GX42 is the first masterpiece of the new 42-meter line by GX Superyachts. A true statement of intent for a new way of experiencing the sea, presented in preview at the Monaco Yacht Show 2026, it immediately sparked interest from visitors who boarded.

Developed by GX Superyachts with design by Marco Casali, naval architecture and engineering by NAMES, and built at SES Shipyard, the GX42 brings together a series of solutions that, while established in the nautical sector, are still unusual in their combination on a yacht of this size.
The project revolves around an integrated energy architecture in which propulsion, electricity production, battery storage, solar generation, and onboard consumption have been conceived as parts of a single system, capable of choosing the most suitable energy source based on operational conditions, ensuring those on board a constant feeling of well-being within a quiet and comfortable environment.

GX42: A truly integrated technical-propulsive system
The main technical feature of the GX42 lies in its parallel hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system.
Unlike standard hybrid systems, where diesel engines primarily produce electricity and propulsion is handled by electric motors, the GX42 maintains a mechanical connection between the main diesel engines and the shafts. The electric machines are integrated into the transmission and allow for the combination of mechanical and electric power or their separate use, depending on the operational mode of the vessel.
This way, traditional diesel propulsion remains available for long voyages at sustained speeds, while the electric component can support conditions of reduced load and hybrid operation. The electric motors can also contribute to the overall energy strategy of the yacht when operating in the appropriate mode.
The system is based on two main MAN engines, a hybrid system, and traditional shafts.

Supporting this architecture is a significant lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery system with a nominal capacity of about 938 kWh, consisting of 24 modules of about 39.1 kWh each, designed to meet the entire energy needs of onboard systems and services.
According to the shipyard, the GX 42 has a potential zero-emission operation at anchor for up to 48 hours and is capable of ensuring a reduction in onboard electrical consumption of up to 45%.
The GX42 also integrates about 27 kWp of photovoltaic power thanks to an efficient system of solar panels integrated into the upper surfaces.

The hull
The GX42 has been developed around a slender hull, designed for efficiency and long distances, based on the principle that reducing the energy needed to move a yacht is as important as increasing the energy available for propulsion.
Current project data indicates an economical cruising speed of about 9 knots, with a declared range of over 5,000 nautical miles, while conventional propulsion allows for higher cruising speeds.

The refined design by Marco Casali
The design of the GX42 also follows the philosophy of project integration. Marco Casali has translated the focus on efficiency into environments designed for long stays on board. The first model is offered in the Raised Pilot House version, with a superstructure featuring elegantly curved lines and a lowered profile upper deck.
This configuration allows for a full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck, complete with a private terrace at the bow, while the lower deck accommodates a spacious VIP suite with a foldable balcony and three other guest cabins.
Focusing on the main and upper decks, the social spaces include a dining area for 10 people, a large salon, and a huge lounge area on the upper deck equipped with sunbeds, a bar, and a Jacuzzi.
In the interiors, walnut, Italian leather, stone, and neutral fabrics create a warm and relaxed atmosphere, enhanced by large glass surfaces and Ultra Light lighting.
The goal, explains Casali, is not to “show off.” We have worked closely with the owners to realize their priorities, with a design suitable for families and intended for long periods on board. By using natural materials, we have created extremely relaxing interiors, but also consistent with the principles of Responsible Yachting by GX Superyachts.
